Transforming the Underpass

In July, Year 5 worked with design company, make:good, to create some artwork to transform the Pettman Underpass near Plumstead Station. It was a brilliant opportunity for our students to be involved in creating artwork for our local area. They thought about the space now and what it could look like in the future. Then, taking inspiration from Plumstead's heritage and modernist architecture and Nepalese textiles and patterns, created a patchwork of designs combining pattern and shape. The key themes for the project were: celebrating local culture; local history and heritage and colour, pattern and joyfulness. We are proud that some of our children's artwork will help transform a space into somewhere positive for our community.
