World Oceans Day
World Oceans Day took place on 8th June and to mark the occasion, Mrs Ahmed led two online assemblies for children in Year 1 and Year 6 about the importance of our oceans and looking after our planet.
Following this, she launched a competition for Year 1 and Year 6 children to design a World Oceans Day poem or a poster to highlight some of the problems our planet faces and how we can help.
She was blown away by the number of entries (over 80!) which were all of very high quality- it was a very difficult task to choose the winners.
The winners can be found below, along with Mrs Ahmed’s comments:
The Year 1 winners are below:
In addition to having their artwork featured on the website, all winners also received a Heronsgate tote bag and mini set of crayons.
Well done to everyone who took part.
