Nursery Family Stories

This photo is from the Nursery topic ‘All about me’. Children talked about the people who make up their family. They named relatives, drew a picture and spoke about what they had done with them using vocabulary about the passing of time.

Year 2 Ocean Explorers

This is a photo from the Year 2 ‘Ocean Explorers’ topic. Children learnt about the causes of the voyages of Christopher Columbus and Sir Francis Drake and what happened as a result of them. The children were able to use vocabulary such as explorer, voyage, ship and circumnavigation.

Year 4 World War One

This photo is from the Year 4 ‘The Edwardians and World War One’ topic. It shows an understanding of the causes and consequences of children’s male relatives leaving their families to fight in World War One. Our learners also appreciated the fact that the changing role of women impacted on the lives of the children also.

Year 6 Criminal Justice

This image is from the Year 6 ‘Crime and Punishment’ topic. It shows an understanding of great changes over time in the criminal justice system. Children were able to make precise comparisons and see broad changes, identifying the causes of this change and the positive consequences we have today.
