Learning about Different Religions

The children have engaged in learning about different religions, their practices, and shared themes.

Diwali and Henna in Nursery.

In the Autumn 2 half term, The Nursery children learnt how Hindu’s show commitment to their faith through celebrating Diwali. They had a visitor that talked to them about how they celebrate Diwali. The tried henna painting and looked at diwali candles and rangoli patterns. They also had the opportunity to ask the visitor questions.

Welcoming and Celebrating New Life with Year 1

In the Autumn 1 half term, The children in Year 1 looked at how people across all faiths can gain a sense of belonging through shared beliefs. As part of this unit the children explored how various religions welcome and celebrate new births. 

Diwali and Community with Year 3

This half term, Year 3 have been learning about the significance of  celebrating Diwali. Over the half term , children will discuss how shared activities bring communities together and learn about some of the celebrations Hindus participate in both at home and in the mandir during Diwali. They will also get an opportunity to listen to a visitor share their experiences during Diwali and ask them questions about the religious festival.

Learning about Sadako Sasaki in Year 5

In Autumn, Year 5 looked at how peace is celebrated in all religions. We learnt the story of Sadako Sasaki, a little girl who was a victim of the Nagasaki Nuclear bomb and her legacy of peace cranes. We the created our own origami and messages for peace in the languages we speak at home.
