Chronological Understanding in History

We are proud to show the learning in various history units across the school. They reflect our work on chronological understanding.

All About Me in Reception

The children have been talking about their families and personal experiences that have happened in their past. The children have talked about what they were like as babies and comparing what they could do then to what they are able to do now. We have also had circle time focusing on special celebrations and events in our lives, such as birthdays, the birth of a sibling or a special family holiday. We ended the half term creating self-portraits and thinking about what we have already accomplished in Reception (and how that is now part of our history).

Stand Up For Your Rights in Year 2

In Year 2, we have been learning about the Suffragette Movement. We discovered how the Suffragettes for women to be allowed to vote. We were actually quite surprised that this happened in the 20th Century. Then we completed a sorting activity to show what life was like before and after the Suffragette Movement.

Stone Age, Iron Age, Bronze Age in Year 3

Year 3 have been studying the prehistoric Britain. They were answering the overarching question, ‘Did the lifestyles of humans change in prehistoric times?’ To answer this, they learned about the Stone Age, Iron Age and Bronze Age. They then culminated their learning by thinking about some of the major changes that Britain had during the prehistoric period.

Crime and Punishment in Year 6

In Year 6 we demonstrated the knowledge of how crime and punishment has changed. We have demonstrated good chronological awareness of how punishments for crime have become more fair.
