Lights, Code, Action!
The photographs showcase our progress in enhancing our ability to work together using technology. Collaboration plays a key role in the computing curriculum and is a fundamental aspect of our ‘iPad Toolkit,’ encouraging children to support one another and combine their skills to create something innovative.
Taking Turns with Tech - Reception
This photo is from the ‘technology area’ in a Reception classroom, where children are learning to take turns and share the use of iPads. Children must write their name on a ‘sign up’ sheet to show that they’re in line for a go!
Coding Logic in Codespark - Year 2
In Year 2, children have been working together to develop their coding skills and solve challenges using Code Spark. Through teamwork, they have explored key programming concepts such as sequencing, loops, and debugging. They have collaborated to think logically, experiment with different solutions, and refine their code when things didn’t go as planned. They have not only built confidence in coding but also strengthened their oracy and listening skills.
The Movie-Making Process - Year 4
Year 4 have been working collaboratively to replicate the full movie-making process. They began by learning how to use the camera effectively, ensuring they could capture high-quality footage. Next, they planned detailed storyboards to structure their films before working as a team to record their scenes successfully. Once filmed, they imported their videos into iMovie, where they carefully edited, refined, and enhanced their projects with transitions and effects. Finally, they exported their completed films, showcasing their creativity and teamwork throughout the entire process.
Documentary Making and Effects - Year 6
Year 6 have been creating incredible documentaries as part of their explorers’ topic. Working together, they have produced films using a range of techniques, including outdoor live recording, green screen, voiceovers, and the Ken Burns effect. Back in the classroom, they have collaborated to edit and refine their footage, resulting in a polished and engaging final documentary.
