Primary Sources in History

In history, we have been looking at the use of artifacts and primary sources within history and how they allow us to understand the past and its relevance to us now.

All About Me in Reception

In Reception we used primary sources such as our own baby photos to gain a sense of who we were and who we are becoming. We then drew our families to reflect upon our position with in it.

Great Fire of London in Year 1

In Year 1 we have investigated the material culture during the Great Fire of London. We read the primary source of Samuel Pepys to determine how the weather conditions attributed to the scale of the fire.

Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age in Year 3

In Year 3 they investigated photographs of archaeological excavations of settlements during the three periods to see how their lives changed from being nomadic settled due to the introduction of farming.

Year 5 – How Dark were the Dark Ages?

We investigated the mystery of the ‘Empty grave’ at Sutton Hoo in East Anglia. We then determined using the artefact evidence and evidence from the Venerable Bede who the grave most likely belonged to.
