Creativity in Computing

This term, children explored creativity within Computing. By using iPad to draw, animate, design games and edit documentaries, children are learning how to be responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology.

Sketches School in Reception

Reception explored drawing using the Sketches School app for iPad. This child has tried out different tools and colours to draw a picture of the wonderful world that we live in.

Stop Motion in Year 2

Year 2 have been learning about stop motion motion animation, working towards creating a short film using Stop Motion Studio on iPad. The photo is an animated ‘GIF’ created using Stop Motion Studio as part of children’s explorations, making the word ‘magic’ appear.

Bloxels in Year 4

Year 4 been creating computer games using the app Bloxels. Children design the layout of the level and then design textures for each element. In this screenshot, the child has designed their level effectively and then has decorated each element with various graphics.  They have also designed their own animated character.

Year 6 Documentaries

Year 6 created documentaries about famous explorers using iMovie. The screenshot from a finished short documentary shows the use of green screen to create a video segment in a newsroom which was then followed by an interview. The final edit included transitions, voice and background music.
