Diversity in History

We are proud to show the learning in various history units across the school. They reflect are work on diversity (similarity and difference) within society.

Understanding the World in Reception

We have begun to explore the concept of similarity and difference by sharing the book, ‘Welcome to our World’. For example, when the children read about how names are different in different places, the children spoke about their experiences of this such as when on holiday abroad or with their own families.

Toys in Year 1

We have learnt that there were similarities and differences between the type of toys that rich and poor children would have played with due to the amount of money they cost. We sorted the toys according to this.

Lights, Camera, Action! in Year 4

During our topic on the history of film, we found out about how although in the UK we mostly watch English language films that were made in Hollywood or the UK, there are many film industries across the world. We focussed on Bollywood and discovered that the films produced there are just as popular as English language films and share a similar history in their development as films made in English.

The Mayans in Year 5

We looked at how people from different strata of Mayan society would dress and how limited they were in the places they could visit or live depending on their position.
