Continuity and Change in History

In history, we have been looking at ‘Continuity and change’, where we look at and compare similarities and differences over time.

Jasper’s Beanstalk in Nursery

In Nursery, we  have talked about and learnt that it is not only ourselves that change over time. A core book was Jasper’s Beanstalk. We learnt that just like humans change over a period of time, so do other living things.

Wonderful Woolwich in Year 2

In Year 2 we have been comparing life in our local area to see how it  has changed  between the lives of WW1 Woolwich munitions factory workers and modern workers living there. We have found out about how  the role of women and how our homes have changed between then and now.

The Rotten Romans in Year 4

In Year 4 we have researched the legacy of the Roman Empire in Britain and found out how their presence caused certain changes over time from when they arrived, until they left and even now.

Violent Vikings in Year 6

In Year 6, we have been finding out about how the Vikings’ religious beliefs changed over time from paganism to Christianity. We described how their religion was reflected in Viking behaviour from being fierce and heroic to enter Valhalla to be with Odin, to a more settled society where Christianity was followed.
