Learning about Diwali

Nursery have been learning about Diwali! They listened to the story “Let’s Celebrate The 5 Day’s of Diwali” and learnt about the story of Rama and Sita. Mrs Sita, came to school dressed in a lengha (traditional clothing) to show us and helped some of the children dress up in this way in the role play area. Nursery children learnt that fireworks are used to represent “light overcoming dark” and that Diwali is a Festival of Lights. They made firework splatter pictures outside and each child made their own diva lamp which they will get to take home with a tea light. Children also enjoyed learning a song and dance!
