Tag Rugby Tournament

On Tuesday 30th April 2024, a squad of nine Year 4 and 5 children from both Heronsgate campuses took part in an inter-school tag rugby tournament against Hawksmoor and Discovery schools at Woolwich Girls’ Polytechnic. Sports leaders in Year 8 - 10 were brilliant hosts, supported each of the three schools, led some warm-ups and introduced the event.

The three teams played each other twice on rotation. Throughout the tournament, the referees and lines officials gradually toughened up on the rules, causing gameplay, skills and strategies to improve alongside. A number of tries by all teams were overruled by officials, leading to a number of suspenseful finales.

Heronsgate Primary won every game they played and so were the clear overall winners of the tournament.
