A Heronsgate Historian has a secure knowledge of the periods studied and how they fit together chronologically. They pose historical questions and investigate these, selecting and evaluating relevant sources to draw conclusions and gain an informed perspective on their world.

The Sands of Time - Nursery

In Nursery, the children are learning to use sand timers to help them turn take. They are learning to understand how long one minute takes by understanding that when all the sand is at the bottom of the that a minute has passed.

American Civil Rights - Year 2

In Year 2 we have been finding out about how civil rights have developed over time. We have learnt  about Rosa Parks and reflected on how her experiences and actions in the past,  have impacted on the  equality of people’s rights today.

Investigating the Age of Stone - Year 3

In Year 3, we have been learning about the Stone Age. We learnt about the how long the Stone Age was and what types of items they made with stone. We discussed the purpose of these items during this period. 

The Road to WW2 - Year 6

In Year 6 we have been learning about the events that led up to World War Two. We put these events in chronological order to explain why it began. We reflected which event had the biggest impact on triggering it and why.
