A Heronsgate Religious Education student uses specialist vocabulary, critically interprets, reflects and evaluates the context that is presented to them and uses this to ask searching questions. They understand that life experiences impact other people's’ religion and world views and respect this.

Holidays We Celebrate - Reception

The children in Reception thought about belonging to their families, to the class and they discussed different celebrations they hold at home and made links to belonging to their faith. For example Diwali- Hinduism. Hanukkah - Judaism and Christmas.

What it Means to Belong - Year 1

In Year 1, the children discussed what it means to belong. They talked about the different groups they belong to and then thought about how different religions show their belonging with special clothing and jewellery.

Hinduism - Year 3

In Year 3 the children explored how Hindu’s demonstrate their belonging to their faith through the worship of different deities. The children thought about the similarities and differences between Hinduism and the faith they belong to.

Faith and Peace - Year 5

Autumn 1 in Year 5,  the children learnt about how different religions foster peace. They then thought about their own beliefs and how belonging to their religion helps them foster peace in their lives.
