Super Goal Scorers!
Through a balance of skill-building lessons, which spiral throughout the whole-school curriculum, the inclusion and development of outdoor adventurous activities units, and inter-school competitions, we are fostering a love for physical activities, while promoting teamwork, resilience, and healthy competition.
Little Steps, Big Balance - Nursery
A Nursery child is shown using controlled movements to walk steadily along a part of an obstacle course, developing essential physical skills, including balance, coordination, spatial awareness, posture and stability. Holistically, such obstacle course activities also foster confidence and independence, as well as problem-solving and resilience, as children work out how to approach each part of the course and overcome challenges.
Tactics in Tiny Trainers - Year 1
Year 1 children are shown practising racquet and ball skills, demonstrating development of hand-eye coordination, basic racquet handling, ball control and moving and positioning. Holistically, they are also developing physical fitness, social skills, understanding simple rules as well as basic tactics and strategy. In Review and Reflect lessons, children have assessed their own performance and that of their team, identifying areas for improvement and setting personal goals for development.
Football, Fun, and Fearless Girls! - LKS2
Year 3 and 4 girls who are less engaged with sport in PE lessons were selected to attend a Girls Football Festival at Shooters Hill College. They were inspired by the older children leading and joining the sessions and found a lot of joy and improvement in their practice.
Pass, Pivot, Play, Progress - Year 5
Year 5 children are shown revisiting and developing netball skills from their initial sport-specific practice in Year 3. They have refined passing and shooting techniques, developed footwork and movement, as well as developing a greater awareness of game positions, tactics, teamwork and communication. Holistically, they have also developed fitness and agility, knowledge of game rules and fair play. In Review and Reflect lessons, children have assessed their own performance and that of their team, identifying areas for improvement and setting personal goals for development.
