Final Outcomes in Art

This showcases the outcomes of the art units across the school. These final pieces have come as a result of exploration and analysis of the artist, practicing skills in style of the artist and composition of the final outcomes. There has been a school focus on questioning children’s understanding and interpretation of artworks to help them create these masterpieces!

iPad Art in Reception

In EYFS, the children explored and used the iPad app Art Set. They used all the skills they had developed to create a poster about Earth Day.

Mixed Media in Year 1

In Year 1, the children created a mixed media piece based on fire. The children learnt different collage and oil pastel techniques, such as smudging, layering, twisting and scrunching. They put these techniques together to create wonderful pieces of art.

Landscapes in Year 4

In Year 4, the children learnt about the artistic journey of the artist Dora Maar and imitated her landscape style and colour choices when painting abstract scenes of Southern France. In this example, you can see the typical cypress trees and lavender of the area.

Year 5 Watercolours

In Year 5, the children learnt about the landscape artist Georgia O’ Keefe. They looked at the bold colours and shapes she uses to create her blend of realistic and abstract landscapes in watercolour. After experimenting with watercolour techniques, such as creating washes of one or more colours on both dry and wet paper, the children created their own biome landscapes.
